Commissioner's Message
Welcome to the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services
The Department of Rehabilitative Services provides services to
help Virginians with disabilities become more independent and
self-sufficient. In keeping with our mission and values, our
knowledgeable and talented employees work in partnership with
people with disabilities, their families, and public and
private service providers to ensure high quality, timely and
efficient service delivery. As a former consumer of the
services of this agency, I take great pride in the agency's
many achievements to enhance consumer services.
Whether it's information or services you're after, you'll find that our web site is constantly growing to meet your needs. The web site is broken down into two major categories: Services to People with Disabilities and Services to Employers . Under Services to People with Disabilities, you'll find information on employment through vocational rehabilitation , the Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income Disability Programs through our Disability Determination Services , and available services to enhance community living for persons with disabilities. I also invite you to explore the services offered by the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center . Located in Fishersville, Woodrow Wilson is a state-of-the-art comprehensive residential vocational rehabilitation center that provides a full compliment of medical, technological and vocational rehabilitative services to persons with disabilities. If you like, take a tour of the Center . You are sure to be impressed!
